A good onboarding provider helps the carrier slow the decision down just enough to check the records that must be resolved before use and to schedule the inquiries that have a post-employment documentation period. The work should create a repeatable intake route for new employees, returning drivers, owner-operators, leased drivers and intermittent drivers where those categories apply.

Driver qualification checks connect the application, driving-record inquiries and medical evidence with the hiring decision. Where applicable, Clearinghouse queries and hours-of-service controls are also needed; they are not substitutes for checking whether the driver is qualified for the assigned work.

Driver qualification records for Texas carriers

A Texas operation may recruit drivers licensed elsewhere. Ask which licensing agencies the provider will obtain records from, how consent and identity checks are handled, and who reviews the returned records. A provider’s declared Texas coverage does not establish an office in Texas.

Have the current driver roster ready, applications, license details, MVR records and medical qualification evidence appropriate to each driver for secure review. Confirm the applicable Part 391 duties for each driver; a CDL label alone does not establish which records are required.
