SAP follow-up evaluations before return-to-duty testing

A SAP follow-up evaluation takes place after the initial assessment and recommended education or treatment. It occurs after the employee has followed the Substance Abuse Professional’s education or treatment recommendation. The SAP reviews information from the program, meets with the employee again and decides whether the employee has demonstrated successful compliance. Only then can an employer choose to arrange a return-to-duty test.
