DOT number lookup questions

How do I look up a DOT number for free?

Enter the company name or USDOT number in the search box above. The lookup reads official federal carrier registration records and returns the carrier record: legal name, DBA, location, fleet size, drivers, operating classification, MCS-150 filing status and safety rating where recorded.

What is the difference between a USDOT number and an MC number?

A USDOT number identifies a carrier for federal safety and registration purposes. An MC docket number relates to FMCSA operating authority for certain for-hire interstate operations. A carrier can have a USDOT number without an MC number, and the report shows both where recorded.

How current is this DOT number lookup?

Results come from a regularly refreshed extract of official federal carrier registration records, and every report shows the extract date. For live operating status and out-of-service checks, use the official FMCSA SAFER Company Snapshot linked from each report.

Can I fix wrong information shown for my company?

The underlying record is the FMCSA registration data for your USDOT number. Update it with FMCSA through an MCS-150 filing, and claim your carrier profile on this site to control what customers see and add your own details.
