A DOT testing program involves more than booking a collection. A carrier needs to know which drivers are covered, who administers the program, where collections take place and how a result or missed selection is handled. This directory brings together listed providers offering different parts of that work.
Choose the service behind the appointment
FMCSA drug and alcohol testing generally applies to drivers operating vehicles that require a CDL on public roads. Holding a CDL or having a USDOT number does not, on its own, describe the full testing obligation. Explain the actual vehicle, driving duties and employer arrangement before buying a package.
A collection site, laboratory, medical review officer and consortium/third-party administrator have different responsibilities. Ask the provider which functions it performs directly, which are arranged through others and who the employer contacts when a time-sensitive collection is needed. For a random program, check how selections are communicated and how records remain available to the carrier.
Keep Clearinghouse and SAP work distinct
Clearinghouse account administration and required queries are separate tasks that may be included in a testing package. A DOT SAP evaluation is a clinical step after a qualifying violation; it is not another name for a drug test. A SAP cannot promise a return-to-work date or bypass the employer’s testing and reporting duties.
Compare the collection network, opening hours, after-hours arrangements, charges for individual tests and access to reports. Confirm state coverage with the provider rather than assuming a nationwide directory profile means every nearby collection site is available.
